Sep 1, 09 - Welcome My hybrids at
I was particularly pleased with 03-FQ-1, 03-DX-2, and 03-CC-3. You can imagine my utter delight in seeing 03-FQ-1 with it's apricot markings on white ground. I absolutely love the colour and spotting of 03-DX-2. It's worlds nicer in my opinion than 97-CN-2. 03-CC-3 is simply wonderful.
I also love 03-AJ-2. The smile is when I show it to someone, they say "I think I have it." They just see the blue / purple colour and know that they have one that is purple. Clearly it's not a hybrid that stands out from all others. I simply like the shades of blue and shades of purple all on the same flower. I can also see other things in it like the dotting on the fall from the Çat parent. In this case with it having normal standards it would be hard to tell it's a mcmurtriei hybrid.
The big disappointment was when I went to dig the 'Huge 2002 Purple' and didn't find any bulbs. I had marked the spot where it was, so the reality is that it's gone. We will see what happens in 5 year's time when some of its children should start to bloom.
I was again fortunate to be able to vist the Lentetuin (Spring Garden) flower show in Breezand Holland at the beginning of March. Wim de Goede again showed several of my hybrids. They aren't yet available commercially, but should be starting in about 2 years.
Janis Ruksans now sells a number of my special Reticulata hybrids involving danfordiae, sophenensis, and the Çat species. I have created a special web page showing the ones he sells.
